This name hits close to home. Years ago… pre-COVID, in what feels like another lifetime, I suffered a sudden stroke caused by a brain clot. After risky open brain surgery, I left the hospital twelve days later in a wheelchair, barely able to walk… and unable to say my own first name. Ghost Hawk had only been open for about eight months.
Aphasia, simply put, is the loss of speech or understanding due to brain injury. I could still understand others, but I could barely speak. Regaining my voice took time… and every ounce of strength I had.
That experience nearly broke me. But this brewery, my incredible team, and all of you gave me purpose. Ghost Hawk, and the meaning behind this brand, lit a fire in my soul to fight like hell… to recover and to keep this hawk flying high. Six years later, it’s still soaring. And I’m beyond grateful for every moment.
This sharp West Coast hitter started with a base of US 2-row and white wheat malts, hit with Simcoe, Chinook, and Apollo Salvo on the hot side. We dry-hopped with more Simcoe and a touch of Centennial. Clean, bright, and piney with a crisp bite… you know Chris always nails these.
