For those who are unfamiliar with our brewery, you might be unaware of the major hurdles that needed to be overcome in order to open Ghost Hawk. One of the biggest challenges that we faced was getting the proper power into our building to power our brewing equipment.
 

After months of talks with PSE&G, it was determined by their team that our unit would require three-phase, 400 amp service. Since this type of power did not currently exist in our building, the utility company needed to install a new pole and transformer on our property, and pull three-phase power from the lines across the street.

This was a huge project that took many months to complete. It required a busy road being shut down for periods of time, hiring off-duty police officers to park behind utility trucks, and all material and labor costs. All said and done, the estimate for the project was a little over $21,000.
 

With this challenge looming over our head, we explored many options, including bringing in an additional investor or taking out a loan. But our final decision was to release exclusive merchandise, glassware, and perks through an online crowdfunding campaign. The campaign was a huge success, and we were able to raise $20,085.. nearly the full amount of our PSE&G bill. This could have never happened without all the amazing people who donated to our campaign, BEFORE WE EVER MADE A SINGLE DROP OF BEER.
